| Well, after quite some time without updating the website, here I am again, with lots of things to take care of! Let's start then. Babylon was unavaliable for about a week, which matched my vacations - even my poor server needs some rest, as it works 24/7 the rest of the year! Moving on, I got a new and discreet spot to place the server. It is now under a structure (which once supported a television) and it is practically invisible, especially because only three cables are seen coming out from there: power, ethernet and an ADB cable for connecting the keyboard. However, the latter is not that necessary now, because I finally have the remote access active! I got hold of a copy of Timbuktu, and managed to install a stripped-down version on the tiny 40 MB hard disk. Contrary to what it might seem, the installation wasn't painless. The remote access worked perfectly, as long as I kept a monitor attached to the server. Well, my intent was to discard the monitor, so I wasn't happy at all! It seems Timbuktu needs the computer to be connected to a monitor to work properly. Fortunately, I found a page where they listed an hack to fool the machine, getting it to think it had a monitor attached. I just placed a few wires connecting a selection of pin holes on the video connector, and booom! The LC III was fooled, thinking it had an Apple 16'' Display connected to it, and now Timbuktu works like a champ. I can now diagnose problems from my Performa, without doing restarts by force, which weren't good for the hard drive. About recent additions: I am now the proud owner of a Performa 5200, with a TV tuner and all pimped up! More about it here. Finally: I've been busy cleaning up my Pismo, getting it ready for another year of hard work. I tried Panther first, because it seemed a little faster, but it had many incompatibilities with software I use, so I went back to Tiger again. Well, now I have a lot to (re-)install... :P |

| So many things to do, so little time to do them! Almost on vacations, when I'll have the time to change some things (maybe take better photos, write a little bit more...). I plan to change both LCIII hard drives, and replace those with flash memory, which is more reliable, and indeed cheaper. I too want to get Timbuktu running in both machines, in order to remotely control them from my SE/30. I'm in the process of ordering some original install media... I've also registered my server in RetroMacCast's webpage (RetroMacCast is a really nice podcast about Vintage Macs, and deals on eBay to get some "rare memoriabillia" :-)). They even mentioned this little forgotten piece of the WWW on the course of the podcast! Thank you guys! |

| OK, some major changes happened today. Finally got the
time
to write the little Plus's page! (it's mainly a translation of the
Portuguese version, but it works!) The IIvx is gone, I donated it to Colossus - simply didn't have the time to fix the thing, nor had the room to store it. So, now it is in a nice room, filled up with Macs of all ages, where it is not simply an old computer, but a Vintage Mac! :-) |

| Been busy making some changes, mainly on the Portuguese
section of the museum... sorry guys, the English part will have to
wait. Classes are almoust starting, and I can't afford giving too much
of my time to this project :-(. But, in order to make you happy, here you have some of the latest pictures of my collection! (and some of my drawings!) |
Yesterday, I went "hunting" for old Mac parts, and I was sucessful! I found several Ethernet cards, RAM, hard drives, and even a Mac IIvx to tinker with!
